A Community Center Designed for Lasting Impact

At the heart of Colada Royale is a long-term commitment to the people and region where it is grown. Since its inception, Dole has envisioned using proceeds towards development of a multi-purpose community center near La Ceiba, Honduras, designed to support education, health, and economic opportunity for workers, families, and neighbors.

The center is planned to include:

  • three to five flexible classrooms
  • medical and dental services
  • vocational training programs
  • language and literacy courses
  • computer skills education
  • wellness offerings such as fitness and nutrition classes.

The facility will also serve as a storm and disaster shelter, providing critical support in times of need. At this time construction is targeted for completion by late 2027 to mid-2028.

Progress Today and the Path Forward

Funding for the La Ceiba community center is generated directly through Colada Royale sales and will continue as the project moves from planning to construction and long-term operation. Early sales have already contributed more than $35,000 toward the effort, marking an important first milestone. The project is expected to break ground once funding reaches an initial construction threshold, with continued investment supporting both completion and future programming. Dole has already donated a 1.5-acre parcel of land adjacent to its packing plant and offices at Finca Monte Cristo, along with plans to enhance a neighboring multipurpose athletic field open to the community. The center will be located at 15.741519, -86.886637, ensuring accessibility for workers, families, and local residents.
