Healthy beauty: Five reasons to fall in love with mangoes
No other fruit is as versatile and yet as healthy as the mango. The oval-shaped fruit adds an exotic touch to any dish – desserts, fish curry or breakfast muesli. Today, we look at all the other benefits of mangoes and discover the nutrients that they contain.
1. Sweet and healthy!
The sweet flesh not only tastes delicious, it’s also good for you. The high proportion of vitamins, folic acid and beta-carotene strengthens your defences and immune system, which is why mangoes are so healthy. And this is also a fruit that makes sure you don’t lose sight of anything – the active agents in mangoes, especially vitamin A, are good for our eyesight.
2. An advocate for beauty
Anti-ageing with a twist: thanks to vitamins A and C, the exotic fruit aids the renewal of cells and fosters a fresh complexion. Including mango regularly in your diet can even help to tackle the problem of blemishes and acne.
3. A substantial snack
Mango is rich in fibre and low in calories. Despite its high sugar content, it has just 60 calories per 100 g, so you can eat lots of them! Although you won’t need to do that, as it will fill you up really quickly. As well as being a substantial snack, it also encourages healthy gut flora.
4. Thirst quencher
Who would have thought it? A mango is actually 80% water. In many countries, mango purée is often used as a remedy to alleviate sunstroke or heatstroke. The mango replaces lost fluids and helps the skin to heal.
5. Good all-rounder
With its sweet taste, a ripe mango is a fantastic counterbalance, e.g. in green smoothies, as it neutralises the bitter-tasting compounds. As it is low in acid, it is particularly easy to digest. It also has a probiotic effect and is considered to be a fat burner as it inhibits the production of the hormone leptin, which is responsible for accumulating body fat. We all agree that this yellow superfruit is a true all-rounder.
The mango’s versatility is astounding. And we now know that it’s worth removing the hard stone to enjoy the sweet fruit flesh.
Sweet greetings!
