A Different Kind of Salad – The Most Summery Ideas with Fruit
Crisp salads taste particularly good in summer. These colourful dishes are not only delicious and refreshing, but also extremely healthy. They are rich in vitamins, minerals and fibre, which our body needs to stay fit and vital. Salads are an ideal meal, especially in the warmer months of the year, as they are easy to digest and provide our bodies with important nutrients. What's more, eating more veggies in everyday life is also good for the environment.
Why does fruit fit into salads? It's simple: fruit provides a natural sweetness and a pleasant texture to the salad. They are a fantastic addition to green leafy vegetables and other vegetables. The interplay between sweet and savoury makes salads not only interesting in terms of taste, but also particularly varied.
For a Sustainable Future
We are happy to get involved to ensure that fruit and vegetables end up on the plates of even the youngest children. Did you know that Dole is one of the main sponsors of the innovative "Eat Them To Defeat Them" campaign in the UK? The campaign - with a reach of around 36 million people in 2022 – aims to encourage children to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables through first-class advertising and school programmes. The school programme that accompanied the TV campaign involved 1 million children in 3,845 primary schools with tasting activities and reward lists. The results were impressive: 57% of parents with children who took part in the school programme said that their children were eating more vegetables and 74% of children thought that eating vegetables was more fun.
